March Yoga Series: Foundations + Alignment
March Series: Every Wednesday 4,11,18, 25 @ 4:30 pm
Join Sasha on Wednesdays 4:30pm + journey through a carefully designed arc of practice rooted in classical yoga philosophy and intelligent movement. Each month pairs a physical focus — from hips to backbends to balance and deep core — with a guiding Yoga Sutra. Together, we explore strength and softness, discipline and surrender, steadiness and ease. This is not random sequencing. It is a progressive, seasonal unfolding designed to deepen your understanding of your body, refine your awareness, and connect you to the heart of yoga.
March Theme: Foundations & Alignment
Yoga Sutra 2.46: “Sthira sukham asanam.” Steady & Easeful Posture
We begin by building our base with a focus on feet, grounding, pranayama (breath awareness), and intelligent alignment + transitions. We explore what it truly means for a posture to feel steady (sthira) and easeful (sukha) simultaneously. It’s with these principles that we use to build your Foundations!
Yoga Nidra & Sound Healing
Yoga Nidra + Sound Healing
with Sasha + Kevin
When: April 4 @5:30PM (75 minutes)
Where: So Hum Yoga Studio
3368 Beltline Ct, Grand Rapids, MI 49525
Cost: $44/ person
Yoga Nidra, often translated as “yogic sleep,” is a long-form guided meditation practice that invites the body into deep rest while the mind remains gently aware. Unlike ordinary sleep, Yoga Nidra guides you through intentional stages of relaxation that systematically release physical tension, emotional holding, and mental overactivity.
Yoga Nidra is known to support: Nervous system regulation, improved sleep, reduced stress and anxiety, subconscious emotional processing, deep restoration without effort.
During this April 4th workshop, Sasha will be leading the Nidra, and Kevin will provide sound healing to accompany the practice. Vibrational tones from brass bowls and other instruments gently support brainwave shifts into alpha and theta states — the same states accessed in deep meditation and early sleep — enhancing the restorative effects of Yoga Nidra.
This is not a movement class. It is a practice of intentional rest.
Come as you are. Leave grounded, spacious, and renewed.
What can I expect?
After you arrive, we'll begin with a few gentle stretches and qigong movements, and then move into pranayama to help clear the body and mind, preparing for the Nidra journey.
You'll be resting in supported Savasana for the majority of the practice. You'll be welcome to use bolsters, blankets, and eye covers, to help with your Nidra Experience.
We have plenty of available props at the studio, but due to the extended time spent supine, some folks opt to bring their own pillows or additional blankets to set up their "nest". Dress in loose fitting cozy gear and don't forget to wear socks :)
(Bonus! The floors of the studio are heated!)
While you rest, you’ll be led through a carefully layered experience that typically includes:
1. Settling & Intention (Sankalpa)
A brief moment to plant a heartfelt intention — a simple phrase aligned with how you wish to feel or grow.
2. Body Awareness + Rotation of Consciousness
Attention is guided through different areas of the body, allowing muscular tension to soften and the nervous system to downshift.
3. Breath Awareness
Gentle awareness of the natural breath, deepening parasympathetic activation and inner steadiness.
4. Sensory Withdrawal (Pratyahara)
External stimulation fades into the background as awareness turns inward.
5. Visualization & Subtle Awareness
Imagery and felt-sense experiences help release stored tension and quiet subconscious patterns.
6. Savasana
Complete surrender into rest.
7. Integration & Return
You’re guided slowly back to waking awareness, often feeling clearer, steadier, and deeply restored.

Myofascial Freedom Workshop
Class Description
75-minute myofascial release workshop designed to help you unwind deep-seated tension, restore mobility, and reconnect with your body in a more intelligent, supportive way. Using foam rollers, therapy balls, and slow, intentional techniques, we will work with the fascial system to address common areas of restriction such as the hips, back, legs, and shoulders. Rather than forcing release, this workshop emphasizes sustained pressure, breath, and nervous system awareness to encourage tissue to soften and reorganize naturally.

Yoga Nidra is the antidote to over-stimulation:
the complete surrender of mind and body into rest.
Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice stimulating specific points on the body along meridian lines to rebalance & nourish the flow of energy (Qi) in the body.
Through combining these experiences, Sasha will create a space of deep rest, while Rachael places acupuncture needles to nourish the Heart & Small Intestine: the organs of Summer in TCM. The Heart is considered the ruler of all organs and is most associated with the Fire element: our joy and outward energy. It is responsible for governing blood circulation and houses the Shen, which refers to the mind, consciousness, and spirit.
The Small Intestine is responsible for the absorption and transformation of nutrients from food. In TCM, it is associated with the process of separating the pure from the impure, both in a physical and metaphorical sense, ie. separating the truth from the untruth, thereby offering mental clarity and discernment.
While allowing the acupuncture needles to remain in place, your Nidra practice will invite deeper restoration. Sasha will provide gentle acupressure (with hands) to further enhance your experience.
What can I expect?
After you arrive, we'll begin with a few gentle stretches and qigong movements, and then move into meditation and pranayama to clear the body and mind, preparing for the Nidra journey.
You'll be resting in supported Savasana for the majority of the practice. You'll be welcome to use *bolsters, blankets, eye covers, to help with your Nidra Experience. Dress in lose fitting cozy gear and pant legs that can be pulled up past the knee.
Once settled for Nidra, Rachael will place acupuncture needles. She will be monitoring throughout the practice to help ease your comfort.
*Acupuncture points may include head, ears, feet, ankles, arms, wrists, and hands.*
Sasha & Rachael will apply acupressure (applying gentle pressure on specific points of the body) throughout the experience.
*Our studio provides mats, blankets, bolsters, and eye pillows.

Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practice stimulating specific points on the body along meridian lines to rebalance the flow of energy in the body.
Through combining these experiences, Sasha will create a space of deep rest, while Rachael places acupuncture needles along the liver meridian points. The Liver is the organ for Springtime: Acupuncture will be focused on removing any stagnation in the blood that has accumulated during winter, the Liver will be nourished and encouraged to regenerate Qi (Qi is our "vital life force") Circulation. Nourishing the liver can improve your capacity for planning in life and help you to find and feel a sense of direction.
While allowing the acupuncture needles to remain in place, your Nidra practice will invite deeper restoration and acupressure will be applied through hands-on touch to further enhance your experience.

Winter is the Season of Yin: slowing down, resting, and restoration. In traditional Chinese medicine, winter is also the season of the kidneys. The kidneys are responsible for growth, development, fertility and considered the root of our energy. Acupuncture can help strengthen and balance the kidneys.
Yoga Nidra is the antidote to over-stimulation:
the complete surrender of mind and body into rest.
Through combining these experiences, Sasha will cultivate a space of deep rest, while Rachael places acupuncture needles along the kidney meridian points. While allowing the acupuncture to remain in place, your Nidra practice will invite deeper restoration and acupressure will be applied through hands-on touch to further enhance your experience.

Strength & Balance Small Group Training
Strength + Balance:
Small Group Training with Sasha
*Limited group size: up to 5 students per group only
Wednesdays @4:00p
January 22, 29
February 5, 12, 19, 26
$150* for six-week series / $25 per class
*price includes 1 pre-recorded at-home workout for any class
that might be missed due to travel/illness, etc.
What to expect from this series:
You'll be a part of a small group training together: only 5 spots are available per group.
During the 4 weeks, you'll utilize the tools (weights, bands, and platforms) in the strength studio to learn how to build your strength without sacrificing your mobility.
You'll learn how to utilize and activate your core muscles to find balance and stability -- the essential muscles for giving you a strong foundation!
Weight bearing exercise and sense of balance is what I consider the "strength foundation" and is essential for all other activities--including your yoga practice, your long term wellness goals, walking, and your posture. This is essential for all bodies, especially as we age!
You'll build upon movements each week, feel a sense of community with others & challenge yourself. You'll be amazed at how your confidence grows as you get stronger both physically and mentally!
Every class will begin with an active warm-up together, move through a training circuit, and finish with deep breathing, qigong, and stretching/yoga.
Who is this series for?
Anyone who wants to strengthen their bodies and find balance!
While this most certainly will be challenging: it will also be fun!
You do not need previous weight training experience to join us: you can expect modifications for ALL levels. It is helpful to have a "can-do" attitude even if you haven't been in this environment before.
*This training is NOT a weight-loss or aesthetic body-modification series. We aim to build skills in long-term overall well-being, balance, stamina, and strength...we are not emphasizing comparison to others, numbers on the scale, calories, or diet.
*You may want to consider one-on-one training if you have serious injuries you are tending to, or if you are feeling like a group setting may not be comfortable due to more personal needs/goals when it comes to strength and confidence.
